What is Fashion?

Fashion, literally means a way of doing.

Ex: At office, everything works out in a formal fashion.

In the above example, fashion does not mean clothing but the way how things are carried out.

The Fashion we study or are aware of, as a term cannot be confined to a definition. It is a broad concept of clothing, style, acceptance, trend, glamour and several other factors.

Fashion is a socio-cultural phenomenon. Fashion cannot be applied to every place and every person at the same level but it drastically differs with respect to the social, cultural, political, economical aspects of an individual, group, society, nation, etc.

Some fashion writers have defined fashion as a popular and mass accepted trend of clothing. Hence we have a notion that if we dress up according to trend, we are fashionable. Fashion as a concept is very subjective and we ought not to judge people
