About me
I am Yaamini and I have done my B.Tech Textile from Anna University and Master of Fashion Management from NIFT. I have 6 years of experience in industry and teaching. I studied textile and fashion just by chance and there upon i started enjoying the subject. The best part of this subject is that it is what we see around. Sadly, the resources pertaining to our surroundings, geography, policies, political, social, cultural and economical environment is very scarce. People who have studied fashion in India know that most of the reference texts are in a western point of view. We study Victorian fashion, Edwardian fashion but we lack to understand how has it influenced the other parts of the world or what happened in other parts of the world while the Victorians dressed up in a certain way. This blog is an attempt to understand fashion in a different perspective and a sincere attempt towards developing a honest account of fashion with respect to our environment (politics, sports, culture, movies, media). Not completely ignoring the valuable western texts of fashion, here I have tried to apply the concepts but to a different scenario.
